Hi, I’m Burhanuddin Taheraly, and I have dyslexia. Growing up, reading and writing were always challenging, and I often felt frustrated in school. Attending The Windward School helped me turn those challenges into strengths. Their support, tools, and teaching strategies helped me grow in reading and writing and gave me confidence in my abilities. Dyslexia has taught me resilience, patience, and creative ways to approach problems, and I want to use my experiences to help others. I also want to raise awareness that dyslexia is not a weakness but a different way of thinking that with the right guidance and support can become a real strength. Many people with dyslexia are natural problem-solvers, big-picture thinkers, and creative leaders, and when given the right tools they can achieve amazing things. That is why I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and support for dyslexia and show that challenges can be overcome with dedication, belief, and guidance.
