Celebrating the Class of 2020 with a $20,000 gift!
Wow! We have some big, beautiful Be Our Heroes news to share! Today, Ana and George Raptis (Sofie ’17 & Katerina ’20) and Maricel and Tony de Cardenas (Victoria ’20 & Olivia ’22) made a $20,000 gift to our Holy Child Scholarship Fund in honor of the entire graduating Class of 2020.
Thank you Ana, George, Maricel and Tony—we’re beyond grateful for your generosity. And, we were especially moved by this deeply personal story Ana shared to explain why her daughter—and all of our graduating seniors—are blessings of light in our world.
“This class is very special. They were brought into our world the year our country was shaken to its core, the year of 9/11. Both Maricel and I were pregnant during the attack [with Katerina ’20 and Victoria ‘20] and delivered a few months after. That entire class of graduates, as infants brought each of our families immense joy during those dark days and they bring us immense joy through these troubling times.
As babies they were our most tender gift from God, as graduates they are tomorrow’s leaders prepared with a Holy Child education and a lot of grit from this COVID experience. These graduates share a unique double-pronged bond stronger than any metal, they share their bright light of the Holy Spirit and His joy shining upon our country when we have needed it the most, TWICE!
God bless each one of them and God bless each teacher, administrator, and staff at Mayfield who have cared for them, educated them, and inspired them for these four years!”
We invite you to share in the joy of these two families, and join them in honoring our Class of 2020 #HolyChildheroes. A Be Our Heroes gift of any size—whether it’s $20 or $2,020!—will directly support our Holy Child Scholars.

“Be persuaded that nothing is little with God.” – Cornelia Connelly
Every year around this time, we ask you to “Be Our Heroes” and support Mayfield Senior School’s annual day of giving. This year, we want to say thank you for all your small acts of everyday Actions Not Words heroism—like staying home, staying positive and sharing your gifts to help others. You’re our #HolyChildHeroes!
Now’s the time to remember those in our Mayfield community who rely on your gifts to help with tuition. All donations on May 20, 2020 will benefit our Holy Child Scholars. And, thanks to a $30,000 matching gift from an anonymous (and very generous!) #HolyChildhero, we’ll instantly double YOUR donation, up to $30,000!
(Special thanks to Mayfield’s Class of 2023 for showing their #HolyChildheroes love!)

A Holy Child Scholarship is “transformative” for Mayfield students
We invite you to watch this 60-second message from Julie Sanchez Brehove ’11, a former Holy Child Scholar—and current Mayfield faculty member!—who says her scholarship was “transformative” for her and her twin sister, Elizabeth Sanchez ’11.
“We knew that financing our education was going to be a challenge for our family,” Julie says. “However, it was because of the generosity of Mayfield’s benefactors that we were able to attend all four years.”
As Julie says, no contribution is too small—especially with our $30,000 matching challenge gift, which instantly doubles every donation!
