About
We hope to see you at this time-honored event. Mass will be celebrated by Father Garry Koch, a former teacher and longtime valued member of the CBA community. Fr. Koch is currently the Pastor of St. Benedict Church Parish in Holmdel.
Our speaker will be Brother Frank Byrne ‘75!
Brother Frank Byrne, FSC, grew up in Shrewsbury, and is the second of five children. His parents, Richard and Clair Byrne, instilled a strong appreciation for their Catholic faith and Irish heritage. He and his siblings, Richard, Regina, Michaele and Mary Clair, all attended St James Grammar School in Red Bank. After graduation, he went onto Christian Brothers Academy, where he was a four year member of the Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams.
Brother Frank was the fourth generation Byrne to attend the University of Notre Dame where he received his BBA in accounting in 1979. Following graduation, he volunteered for a year at St. Raymond High School for Boys in Bronx, N.Y. where he was hired by Brother Andrew O’Gara, FSC.
After deciding to pursue a life with the Christian Brothers, Brother Frank embraced teaching and coaching at St. Raymond and La Salle Academy in New York. He eventually served as assistant principal and principal at St. Raymond before being elected as the Provincial of the New York District of the De La Salle Christian Brothers in 2002. Following the death of Brother Andrew O’Gara, FSC Brother Frank became the President of CBA in the summer of 2009.
While President of CBA, Brother Frank led the Project 50 Campaign commemorating CBA’s 50th anniversary. This campaign allowed for the construction of the new library, administrative office, guidance center, labs and classrooms. In 2017 the Forever CBA Campaign was initiated to secure funding for the Sheehan Track, the Keane Soccer Field, the Sullivan Tennis Courts, Benilde Hall, and building up the Endowment.
In 2021 Brother Frank was asked to serve as the Auxiliary Provincial for the Brothers’ East Coast Province. He stays connected with the school as Moderator of the CBA Pipes & Drums.
Brother Frank received his Masters Degree in Religious Education from Fordham University, and his Professional Diploma in Secondary School Administration from Manhattan University. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Manhattan University, Calvert Hall, the Lasallian Educational Center, Mercy Center, Our Lady of Mt, Carmel, and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore. He received the CBA Alumnus of the Year in 2003, the Notre Dame Club Man of the Year in 2016, and the Friendly Sons Irishman of the Year in 2017.
A timeless tradition that any father-son combination does not want to miss!
The drawing for the annual Mothers’ Club Scholarship raffle will be held after the keynote speaker address. If you haven’t received your raffle tickets or need more, please reach out to Donna Lynch at [email protected].
