Bates Family Fund
About
The Dublin School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the establishment of The Bates Family Fund, an endowed fund in honor and recognition of Head of School, Brad Bates, his wife Lisa, their children Calvin ’17 and Lilly ’19, and Brad’s father, Nathaniel “Buddy” Bates ’53, GP ’17, ’19. Over the past 18 years, Brad’s vision and leadership have helped Dublin become a benchmark among small boarding schools, while his family’s dedication to the school and myriad contributions have strengthened the community and deepened a culture of inclusion and belonging.
In the spirit of Brad’s commitment to inclusivity and the richness of a Dublin education, the Board is establishing The Bates Family Fund to help ensure that every student has access to the full Dublin experience. The intention of this fund is to provide financial resources that go beyond the cost of attending Dublin and that support the experiential and extra-curricular opportunities that are essential to a student’s Dublin education. The Bates Family Fund will be a living legacy of Brad’s belief that a culturally and socioeconomically diverse community where all students can participate fully and contribute meaningfully, regardless of financial resources, strengthens the Dublin experience for everyone.
The Board of Trustees wishes to acknowledge the parents, alumni, staff and friends of the School who have already asked about an appropriate way to honor Brad and his family. The Bates Family Fund is the perfect embodiment of what Brad has always tried to deliver to our School’s students. With an initial endowment of $500,000, the Bates Family Fund will create a living legacy that will bring the full Dublin experience to current and future generations of Dublin students.
