The Knights Challenge: Read‑A‑Thon — From Books, We Build!
Launching October 6th, students will read all year with joy and purpose, knowing every minute and every dollar helps fund our new library and 3rd‑floor classroom renovations. Students track their reading, earn prizes, and watch their class fundraising thermometer rise as they help build a lasting legacy for FCS.
Supporters come to this webpage to give any amount they wish in support of the reader’s class and help build the future legacy of our campus. When you donate, simply select the student’s grade you wish to support, and you can conveniently choose to donate to more than one student at a time. As soon as each grade receives two separate donations, their class thermometer will appear.
How the Read-A-Thon Works:
K–6th
- Students log their reading minutes at home — with K–1 welcome to be read to — and turn those reading logs in to their teachers to show their progress. They earn tokens they can redeem at the Knights Market twice a month, choosing fun prizes that reward their reading efforts. Supporters can donate any amount on this webpage to show their support for the reader, and all gifts roll up into the class’s total.
7–12th
- Supporters choose one of three reading‑based challenges for 7th–12th graders, then make any donation on this webpage to reward those efforts. Students may serve as a Reading Buddy, spending time reading with younger grade students; tackle a Hard Book, selecting a classical or challenging work outside coursework; or lead a Book Discussion or Review Video, demonstrating thoughtful engagement and communication. Once a student has completed the challenge — or at any point along the journey — the supporter can visit this webpage to make a class donation in their honor.
Class rewards unlocked by fundraising totals:
$1,000 — +15 minutes added to recess or lunch
$2,000 — Extra Spirit‑Wear Day
$3,500 (by Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1st) — Cookie decorating + Christmas photo keepsake

$200,000 — Choose one of three new library design options; commemorative plaque installed honoring the class.
All donations are fully tax‑deductible. Franklin Classical School is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Please note that the build‑out of the library and construction timelines will vary. The images scrolling at the top of this page reflect designs created by our architect specifically for our space — fully achievable within the scope of this project. The more funds raised, the higher‑caliber design we can accommodate, with early estimates for the new 3rd‑floor library and classrooms at more than $1 million.
