We are thrilled to announce Mayfield Senior School‘s partnership with the national non-profit, Pollyanna, as we host a conference designed specifically for the unique efforts of diversity, equity, and justice in Catholic Schools.

Join us for our inaugural conference: Building the Beloved Community: Fostering a Sense of Belonging Through ‘Actions, Not Words’ on Saturday, May 4th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Our mission with this conference is to provide a platform where people can explore inclusion and belonging, share experiences and ideas, and become catalysts for change in their faith-based communities. This dynamic, interactive program aims to empower community leaders to foster inclusivity and enhance belonging within communities by highlighting the value of racial, socioeconomic, religious, and gender diversity across all aspects of their schools.

This year’s conference will be structured a bit differently. Each school will be represented as a School POD, comprising approximately 15 individuals involved in advancing diversity discussions. We kindly request the attendance of two members from each of the following groups: administrators, alumni, diversity practitioners, faculty, parents, 6th through 12th grade students, trustees, and one head of school.

EVENT DETAILS

The morning will begin with brief opening remarks and a special keynote speaker. The balance of the morning will be dedicated to workshops broken down by constituent groups, each individually facilitated. After a break for lunch, there will be a dynamic student presentation. This year we will feature a breakout session that will speak specifically to the experience of elementary/middle school students in addition to our traditional high school panel. Each school will then reunite with its members for afternoon workshops, which will focus on discussions of next steps for each school. The day will end with a closing share-out session.

REGISTRATION

The conference will accommodate the first 25 schools that register. The cost for each School POD to attend is $1,600 before March 29 and $1,900 after March 29. Note: We only need the contact person’s name now. POD names will be requested later.
