About
In 1827 Catherine McAuley opened the House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland, to serve those who were the most marginalized. Catherine threw open her doors with a mission to provide housing and education to those who would not have access otherwise. Since that time, the Sisters of Mercy have continued and advanced Catherine’s vision by making college education accessible to those who would otherwise not be able to afford it.
The House of Mercy Fund gives support to current students who find themselves with unexpected financial need to ensure that they can continue their studies at Saint Joseph’s College and the Mercy education we provide. Your gift helps a promising student who is experiencing hardship due often to a parent’s illness or loss of employment.
With your generous support, we will continue to fulfill Catherine’s and the Sisters’ legacy by providing financial assistance to students in need. This financial assistance can be applied in two ways:
- offsetting core college expenses like tuition, housing, books, meal plans, and necessary supplies;
- covering unexpected life expenses and/or urgent needs as determined in consultation with the Dean of Students, or their designee.
Join us once again and support Catherine’s legacy with a gift. Give today online, over the phone at 207-893-7890, or by mail at Institutional Advancement, Saint Joseph’s College, 278 Whites Bridge Road, Standish, Maine 04084.
