HELP US BRING WYOMING AREA CATHOLIC STUDENTS HOME!
On September 1, 2026, something no school community ever expects happened at Wyoming Area Catholic School.
FIRE.
In a matter of minutes, teachers, staff, and students did exactly what they had been taught to do. They moved quickly. They listened. They looked out for one another. And, by the grace of God and the swift response of first responders from across the community, all 174 students and every member of our staff made it safely outside.
NO ONE WAS HURT.
For that, our gratitude to God will never end.
But when the smoke cleared, it became clear that the safe, familiar, comfortable world we knew was changed. Two classrooms suffered significant fire damage. Other parts of the school were affected by smoke and water. Our small but mighty cupola was now a broken shell.
Books, supplies, learning materials, and the familiar spaces where our children learn, laugh, pray, and grow were damaged or lost. The school building that our families know as home cannot simply reopen as though nothing happened.
And yet, the most important thing about Wyoming Area Catholic has not been damaged.
Our school community is still here.
Our teachers are here.
Our children are here.
Our faith is here.
Within hours, neighbors and community partners graciously opened their doors. Wyoming Area School District helped care for our students immediately after the evacuation. Saint Maria Goretti Parish quickly opened its educational spaces so our children could continue learning while our school is restored. First responders from across the area came together when our children needed them most.
This is what community looks like.
Now we need that community to help us take the next step.
The Wyoming Area Catholic School Fire Recovery Campaign will help cover the extraordinary costs of cleaning, restoring, replacing, and rebuilding what was lost.
Your gift can help put a book back into a child’s hands. It can help replace classroom materials. It can help restore a learning space. It can help bring our students back through the doors of their school much more quickly.
And, ultimately, it can help ensure that a fire does not interrupt the mission that Wyoming Area Catholic has carried forward for generations: providing children with an education rooted in faith, compassion, and community.
When one of us is hurting, we come together. When our children need us, we show up. When it’s time to rise again, we rise up.
Please make a gift today to the Wyoming Area Catholic Fire Recovery Campaign.
Whether you give $25, $100, $500, or whatever you can afford, your gift will mean something. Every contribution will bring us one step closer to restoring the classrooms, replacing what was lost, and welcoming our children home.
The fire took classrooms. It took books and supplies. It disrupted our school year.
But it will not take our community.
It will not take our faith.
And it will not take our future.
WE WILL ALWAYS STAND FIRM IN OUR FAITH!
WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR FR. MICHAEL DREVITCH AND OUR TEMPORARY HOME AT ST. MARIA GORETTI.
WE ARE SO THANKFUL ALSO FOR OUR FIRST RESPONDERS.
WE KNOW GOD WILL NEVER ABANDON US!
