Definitely morning! I love to get up early and have a cup of coffee outside while enjoying the sunlight and listening to nature sounds. This favorite morning ritual helps me approach my day with focus and purpose.
I would learn another language. I speak both English and Spanish and after learning a second language it made me realize how much I’d love to add a third! They say people who speak more than one language have improved memory, ability to multi-task, and better listening skills – all attributes that can help me with my work.
Seeing others succeed! I love to see improvement – within myself and from others.
Atomic Habits by James Clear. It’s a guide to breaking bad habits and adopting good ones by showing how small, incremental, everyday routines can compound into massive, positive change over time. I guess this speaks to what inspires me – seeing improvement within myself!
Hands down - spending time on the water! Living in the mountains of western North Carolina, we are surrounded by rivers and lakes and that has always brought me peace. For me, being around water induces a sense of calm which tends to make me feel more creative and more capable of wonder.
I think of success more in terms of a state of mind. As Maya Angelou once said, “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” And, I couldn’t agree more!
BoostMySchool’s core values really resonated with me. It was exciting to see how deeply rooted they were in the fabric of the organizational mission and goals. The core value that is most motivating to me is “Put People First”. Having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and gaining experience working with schools, I am able to truly value human connections. Nurturing relationships is my first priority.
Holman is the founder and CEO of Boost My School. He actively helps his former high school with their fundraising and alumni outreach, which is how the idea for Boost My School came about. He is a strong believer in the power of education to change the world and volunteers with programs that support underrepresented students in math and science.
