Definitely, I’d have to say China. If you are looking for a destination that is exotic, packed full of new sights and experiences, stimulating, and over all so very different than life in the United States, China is it! I couldn’t believe the number of unique and diverse things I experienced while there. I encourage everyone to go international and explore other cultures.
That’s a great question, and hard to choose just one because I am learning something new every day! I think the one thing I would be grateful to learn now is another language. It has been one of those benefits that I think of often when meeting new people in my work. As a kid, I remember thinking how fantastic it must feel to be able to travel to another country and speak their language with no problem. Despite the eight years of Spanish I studied in middle and high school, I retained muy poco!
Simply, I define success as a combination of effort and results. With that said, I focus my energy on bringing 100% effort every day to my work and personal goals. When you experience a missed goal or failure, but you know that you gave it 100% of your time, talent and effort, I label that a success regardless of the outcome. I believe that success is often found in the process of taking risks, embracing where they take you, and redefining the outcomes desired. For me, the success comes with making progress towards your final goal.
Most deeply and consistently is my son. He is two years old and watching him learn and navigate the world around him with pure enthusiasm and innocence is very inspiring to me. But beyond that, I think it really comes down to being mindful of leaving a positive impression on people and bringing value to their lives. Finding ways to deliver that each day inspires me to work hard at it. I really appreciate that I work at a company that is passionate about what they bring to the world and making a difference for people.
I truly didn’t anticipate the amount of effort and planning that it goes into fundraising for a school. Admittedly, I was one of those alumni that didn’t understand why my donation was necessary. I have learned so much from school development teams while collaborating with them. I can proudly say that I now understand why they are asking for gifts and how those donations literally change the lives of current students. It was an incredible “aha” moment for me and has only added to my passion for providing schools with the most actionable fundraising platform available.
