Catlin Gabel Giving Tuesday
Join in the fun on this international day of giving, and show your support for the Catlin Gabel community!
How many students are receiving need-based financial assistance?
26% of our community - which is 3% higher than the national average for our school size.
There are 172 students receiving need-based financial assistance this year, which is 130 separate families. And our average tuition assistance is higher than the national average!
Where does the money for Financial Assistance come from?
This year we have $5,391,510 for financial assistance specifically for tuition. There are many additional costs to being a student - we have help from restricted funds from the endowment (totaling $190,000) that covers additional expenses. Still, most financial assistance dollars come from the operating budget, including support from the Catlin Gabel Fund, which is why we rely on donations from our community to keep this part of the school healthy.
What are the other costs associated with being a student?
We need support to cover laptops ($2,600 each student), Books/fees ($450 each), Learning services (cost varies), Global trips (up to $5,000/trip), lunches (up to $1,750/year per student), Outdoor Ed ($150/trip average), Robotics ($700 each), plus Athletics and Clubs (usually under $100 each).
How can I make an impact?
Donate this Giving Tuesday and your donation will be immediately put to good use for our students this year.
If we reach 200 donors on Giving Tuesday, an alumni family will donate $100,000 towards financial assistance. Your participation is essential because your support shows our community believes in the mission of the school. Inspire others to give by making a donation on Nov. 29th!
We need your help in spreading the word and getting others to donate too!
What about my workplace matching gifts?
Corporate matching gifts made up 78% of our total raised during Giving Tuesday last year!
In a nutshell, matching gift programs are where organizations commit to matching a donation made to eligible nonprofits by their employees. It’s a way that you can essentially double, or even triple, your gift. Great, right? It makes a huge difference here at Catlin Gabel– please help out by finding out if your workplace will match your gift by following these steps:
1. Donate to Catlin Gabel School on Giving Tuesday, November 29th.
2. Complete a matching gift submission request to the company you work for. Ask your HR for details as this varies.
3. Forward your workplace matching gift confirmation PDF to [email protected]
