Blue and White Fund - Current Parents
Join fellow Gulf Stream School parents by making a gift to the 2023-2024 Blue and White Fund.
Why should I give to the Blue & White Fund?
Gifts to the Blue & White Fund provide Gulf Stream with the most flexibility to attend to the School’s greatest and most immediate areas of need. Every year Gulf Stream has a prioritized list of special projects, teacher requests, and programmatic needs it plans to accomplish. Blue & White Fund gifts help us realize those goals and fulfill the high expectations of our students, parents, and faculty.
Why is 100% participation so important?
Three main reasons: 1) We are building a culture of philanthropy, which is a common sense of responsibility for supporting Gulf Stream. 2) There is a direct correlation between percentage of participation and the amount of money raised. Typically, higher participation translates into more success financially. 3) Other donors often look at the level of participation as a measure of an institution’s health and future potential. Donors considering gifts want to be sure their investment is going to have a positive impact moving forward, rather than cover debt, pay a bill, or barely keep an organization afloat.
Just ask your child’s teacher, every year 100% of our faculty makes a gift to the Blue and White Fund. They know how impactful these gifts are and the teachers and students are the direct beneficiaries of the Blue and White Fund.
How much should I give?
This is a personal choice for each individual or family and we ask that members of the GSS community give at a level appropriate to them. Current parents should consider making Gulf Stream School their number one philanthropic priority. Any amount is welcomed and appreciated.
Why are we encouraged to give during the ten week defined campaign period?
We are working to create a culture of philanthropy where every parent participates enthusiastically. A concentrated period of time allows us to focus on this effort and avoid constantly asking families for gifts. Giving within the timeframe allows the School to set the following year’s budget based on real numbers rather than projections. The ten week window also allows the School the ability to focus on gifts in support of our capital and endowment efforts.
We typically give near the end of the School year. Can we wait until then?
No problem. All we need from you now, in order to count your participation, is a pledge. You can wait and pay it off any time prior to the close of the fiscal year on June 30th.
Why doesn’t tuition cover expenses related to maintaining and improving the quality of a Gulf Stream School experience?
Increasing tuition would make it difficult for some existing families to afford the costs and might discourage prospective families from considering Gulf Stream as a viable option for their child(ren). Minimizing tuition increases ensure that the School can retain, attract, and potentially enroll the area’s best students.
Why does Gulf Stream need these funds and how do they benefit the School?
Blue and White Fund gifts provide the School with necessary funds to fulfill the School’s greatest and most immediate needs that remain unfunded by tuition. It is the School’s second largest source of income other than tuition and its most important fundraising endeavor every year. The School will make available a comprehensive list of the tangible items and opportunities made possible thanks to the generous gifts in support of the Blue & White Fund.
Will we be asked to participate in other campaigns or fundraisers every year?
The goal is to streamline and simplify the ways in which we ask for your support. Gulf Stream will focus on only two major fundraisers every year*. The Blue & White Fund will run from October through December. The Parents’ Auxiliary organizes one major event in the Spring. These two initiatives directly support our School’s mission and benefit the students and faculty.
*Periodically we launch a capital campaign in addition to the Blue and White Fund and Parents’ Auxiliary event. Capital campaigns are usually for a construction project and/or to increase the School’s endowment.
