About
Gulf Stream School invested over $600,000 above operating expenses to meet the challenges of COVID-19. For the safety of your children and our faculty , this expenditure was approved without hesitation. A few examples of what was included:
$110, 000 for germicidal air filtration systems, cleaning equipment, and PPE
$85,000 to upgrade distance learning equipment and provide faculty training
$26,000 for new Health Suite and other facilities upgrades
$75,000 in emergency tuition assistance for families
$196,000 to compensate additional faculty and staff in order to reduce class size, to keep children isolated in cohorts, and to hire a nurse practitioner to manage our COVID-19 response.
$125,000 for weekly COVID-19 testing and insure the availability of testing throughout the school year.
We are proud that GSS opened it doors for in-person learning on the expected first day of school and remained open, an incredible achievement when only thirty-five percent of U.S. students are being offered in-person learning. The level of preparation and commitment to safety has earned our campus a 97.5% negativity rate.
Much is still unknown about next year, but we are preparing to deploy all of the same efforts, upgrade equipment, and take any new advised precautions. We understand that this year may have been financially challenging, but if you are able, we respectfully ask that you consider an additional contribution to the Blue and White Fund that will go directly toward the health and safety of your child and our campus.
