In honor of Burke Ryder
To honor and remember Burke and our support of the entire Ryder clan. This picture is a snippet of time of our interaction with Burke (and Teo). The energy, smiles and pure joy you couldn’t help but feel when around them. Burke’s memory will always be that of his smile, his enormous friendly, welcoming kind & gracious soul. People were drawn to him for so many reasons and the impact of his life will forever be felt by us fortunate to have know him (and the Ryder family). Our hearts are heavy and we will continue to keep you in our thoughts. Our love-Karen, Alex & Luke (and Fletcher too to his trail pal Hootie)

And always, so much love for the mountains and skiing. Standing in solidarity with our entire alpine family – in particular, Max Fischer, who introduced us to Burke. In the first snow and the last run, we will know you’re there Burke, keeping us in awe.

Burke had a contagious smile. He was at every event on campus whether it was an athletic contest, leadership opportunity, concert in Flickinger, or just to hang out with others in the campus center. He embraced every aspect of the school on a hilltop, which we did not anticipate when I worked in admission. We expected him to choose the easier campus to navigate on the other side of New Hampshire, but nope Burke fell in love with KUA, its people, and in return we all loved him back. All of the students were drawn to him as his passion for KUA was evident. Burke, you will be missed.

We want to express our deepest sympathies to Kristin and Lee and the entire Ryder family. Burke and my son David Cutler were great friends- a band of brothers right next door to each other in Bryant Hall. I know that my son had great admiration for Burke and was in awe of his positive attitude no matter how he was feeling or what he was going through. I only met Burke a few times, but he was always witty and exuberant, a bright smile that I will not forget. Prior to my son graduating last year I found myself with my husband a few other students and parents waiting for salutatorian to start. Burke was next to me. I told him that I was a bit nervous about my son's speech the next day, as valedictorian and Burke said, "don't worry, Mrs. Cutler- it is good! He had snuck in to the auditorium to watch him practice- a supportive and loyal friend to my son. I joked with Burke and said, I hope his speech is not too "byzantine", (overly complicated), a playful poke at my son's love of this word! Burke laughed and said... well it is David after all! I will never forget this moment. Burke touched my son's life in many positive ways and taught my son a lot about character, perseverance and courage. We are forever thankful that David got to know Burke so well. We know that Burke's memory will carry on always within our son.
