In honor of T.J. Vassar '68

Even though I did not graduate from Lakeside, I was inspired by reading the story of T.J. Vassar in the Black at Lakeside issue of Lakeside Magazine. The struggle as a black student at Lakeside at that time was not unlike my own at Seattle Prep in the 70s, and I am so delighted that Lakeside is moving in a more inclusive and supportive direction. Adding 'B' to DEI was insightful because students tend to thrive when they feel they belong.

I am forever indebted to Lakeside’s teachers and staff. They recognized my potential and had the patience and grace to let me find my own path forward.

Thank you to all the teachers, caring so much about the progression of their students!

Mrs Small was a teacher that was dedicated to her students learning all the facets of creative writing. She was a teacher to be admired for giving her students a rich understanding of the writing content.

Lakeside provided me with incredible opportunities during my time there. Whether it was access to inspiring and incredibly knowledgeable faculty, the opportunity to travel and learn about new cultures, or meet some incredible peers who are now lifelong friends. This is my small way of giving back to a place that gave so much to me

We are deeply grateful for the diverse student body which provides invaluable opportunities to learn about different perspectives and broaden our understanding of the world!
