Roncalli High School Walkathon
Royal Stroll for the Soul
1. Why do we have a Walkathon?
- Every dollar raised through Walkathon supports the Roncalli Circle of Faith Annual Fund.
- This is THE ONLY all school fundraiser in which Roncalli students are asked to participate.
- Walkathon raises over $85,000 each school year.
2. What is Walkathon?
Walkathon is a 3-mile walk around the Roncalli campus with students, faculty, staff, and parent volunteers.
3. When is Walkathon?
- Friday, October 28th during the school day
- Wednesday, November 23rd is the scheduled rain date.
- No college visits are allowed on this date.
4. How does Walkathon work?
Students need to secure $70 in donations prior to the Walkathon date. ($120 for a household: 2 or more students living in the same household/address)
Students will receive a yellow envelope for cash/check donations, as well as a unique link for online donations.
Once students turn in their monetary goal, they will receive a wristband and can be out of uniform from that day forward, until Walkathon. ** Lost wristbands are $5**
All students will participate in the walk, only students who turn in $70 (or the $120 household rate) will receive a Walkathon t-shirt
Students can contact the Advancement Office if special financial circumstances need to be considered.
5. What are the different ways for people to donate to my student?
- Students will receive a bright yellow envelope for cash/check donations (Sept 23).
- Students will also receive an email with their unique link for online donations (Sept 26)
- Students should fill in their yellow envelopes with the cash and check totals, as well as, amounts pledged online and turn it in to get their t-shirts.
6. What is the schedule for Walkathon day?
- School will begin at the regular time.
- All eight periods will meet for approximately 20-minute intervals.
- Walkathon will begin at approximately 11:30 AM in the ASV Gym.
- Dismissal will be at 1:00 PM after all students have returned from the walk.
- No lunch will be served.
7. When and where does Walkathon money need to be turned in?
- Students will turn in their money online or in the yellow envelope in the cafeteria on Friday, October 21st.
- Collections will continue from Monday, October 24th thru Thursday, October 27th before school in the lobby.
- Any money turned in after October 27th must be turned in at the Advancement Office.
8. What does my student wear for the Walkathon?
- Students who meet their fundraising goal will receive a t-shirt to wear the day of the Walkathon ($70/$120 Household Rate). Students may wear sweatpants or pants/jeans with no holes (NO SHORTS AND NO LEGGINGS).
- If a student does not meet the fundraising requirement, he or she will walk in the school uniform.
9. What if my student collects more than $70?
- All students who individually turn in $100 or more will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win some great prizes!
- All students who turn in $100 or more will receive an additional out of uniform day.
- Prize winners will be drawn before the Walkathon.
