In memory of Peyton Pinkerton '49

Peyton P. and Miles H. asked me to be a phonation caller in 1993; more than 27 years of professional fundraising later I remain impacted by the power of philanthropy and the example set. Peyton's approachable and welcoming demeanor routinely brought students from the cold winter Cluett hallways into the warm camaraderie of shared space with him. He shared great stories, he asked about others. Peyton's stacks of paper were as memorable as his adept ability to retrieve exactly the artifact from the stack that he was looking for, within seconds! One might have thought by his organization system that Peyton was not a detail person; but in fact, he could recall and know students more fully than many. Peyton set a high standard for his fellow educators and colleagues on how to connect and shape student lives. He will be missed and his example lives on.
