About
Welcome to Family Weekend at The Ethel Walker School!
We hope you will join us on campus October 24 - 26 for Family Weekend 2024! Family Weekend is a beloved tradition that invites families to campus to attend classes, meet teachers, learn more about Walker’s, cheer for our athletic teams, and enjoy connecting with other Walker’s families.
We have exciting programming planned for you!
On Thursday evening, October 24, you are invited to join Head of School, Dr. Meera Viswanathan, and the Ethel Walker School trustees for a cocktail reception at the Deck House to celebrate our shared philanthropic support of girls education.
On Friday, October 25, join us for breakfast, a special Chapel ceremony, a State of the School address from Head of School Dr. Meera Viswanathan, classroom visits, conferences, a community lunch, an informative collegiate athletics panel with our Athletic Director Brett Benzio, and a delicious dessert reception hosted by the Ethel Walker School Parents Association (EWSPA). We hope you catch our volleyball team in action, and you can’t miss our riders and horses dressed up for the Equestrian Team’s annual Halloween Ride.
Saturday, October 26 kicks off with breakfast in Abra’s, followed by a “Hidden Walker’s” history walk with our School Archivist Kim Harris Thacker P’24, ‘27. The day will also include additional classroom visits and conferences. Then, join us for “Expert Insights for a Smooth College Admissions Journey,” an informative session led by Clarissa Basch, Director of College Counseling at Walker’s, and Andrew Strickler, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Connecticut College. This session is designed for parents of students at all grade levels. Later, Middle School families are invited to an Upper School preview, followed by our annual BBQ picnic lunch at the athletic fields — an event you won’t want to miss! Stay to cheer on our soccer and field hockey teams as they face off against Miss Porter’s School, and support our volleyball team as they compete against The Frederick Gunn School.
We hope to see you on campus!
