Viewing the Education Pinning Ceremony in May, there was a section when the students were able to give a personal message about their SJC experience. I listened and was thrilled to hear that each had indeed grasped personally why Saint Joseph’s is special. Some of the words they used;

willingness to help at any time, challenging, caring, interested in each student, life-long friends, supportive, fun, helpful, welcoming, personal, respectful, innumerable opportunities, service

In short, Saint Joseph’s is special because of the transformative experience it provides for everyone.

It seriously attempts to fulfill its Mission by providing opportunities which aim to nurture the intellectual, spiritual, and social growth for all who become associated with it. What more can one ask of it?

Sister Mary George

I am so grateful for SJC because they made my transfer so fast and the transition so smooth. At the time, I hoped for the best, today, I know I couldn’t have made a better choice. I can not be more thankful for the memories and friendships I have made this year on top of receiving an amazing education.

I am a huge fan of small liberal arts colleges that provide each student an opportunity to explore, discover and imagine without restriction, in a setting that supports one’s growth in multidimensional ways. Excellent academics, compassionate culture and a size that provides opportunity to grow lifelong friendships, excel at athletics and benefit from the multiple support systems that are with one through the good times and challenges. All these qualities are at St, Joseph College not to mention the awe inspiring and constant change of Maine’s four seasons. A foundational liberal arts education is assured by developing the whole person; mind, body and soul. I am proud to be a part of the SJC family.

What makes Saint Joseph’s College so special? As a small Catholic Liberal Arts College the classes are small and provide an opportunity to know the professors, to know your classmates, and to work together on class projects. Working together on class projects teaches the student how to work with others after graduation and when one is involved in life-long learning.

Always remember the importance of supporting your College. Someone supported the College when you were a student, now it is your turn to step forward and take your place with the loyal Alumni – “playing it forward” as the saying goes.

Sister Joyce Mahany

My Saint Joseph’s experience was fundamental to what I have subsequently achieved in life and work. I didn’t want to go to large, impersonal school. The small college experience at Saint Joseph’s not only nurtured a real sense of community both in- and outside the classroom, but help create life long friendships. The intimate learning experience where teachers really know you, and you them, prepared me well for graduate school and professional advancement.

The College continues to provide foundational experiences today. And in today’s environment, your support now, with an unrestricted donation of any amount, is vital to help ensure the College has the resources needed to advance the College’s mission and to keep the SJC community strong during these challenging times.

Bob Zilg ‘76, Board of Trustees

I really love how supportive all the SJC staff is with balancing school, work, and other on campus activities! I work on campus and my office is very flexible with my schedule and are totally understanding when I can’t come in on a certain day to do school work instead.

Megan Lenihan '22, Nursing Major

Saint Joe’s has always been special because it became a home away from home. It allowed me to have a teaching career that helped me to influence the lives of many children.
